Mt timemaker7/11/2023 In order to increase the manufacturing volume, reduce the cost and improve the performance of the products, Rakon developed its manufacturing processes. Also the performance of these early products, although good enough, was not satisfactory to the young Brent Robinson. The early TCXOs that Rakon supplied were imitations of the Japanese products, but Rakon was unable to replicate the highly automated manufacturing processes that existed in Japan. The supply of these products became the main focus of Rakon's operations, and the entire manufacturing process for quartz crystals was revamped in order to support this new technology. With NEC in Australia looking for a local supplier of TCXOs, Brent committed Rakon to developing a product of equivalent performance to anything that could be sourced out of Japan.īy the late 1980s, Rakon was supplying TCXOs to NEC Australia's Melbourne factory. These were mainly being manufactured in Japan at the time and were used, in particular, in cellular phones. In the mid-1980s, Brent came across a product type known as temperature-compensated crystal oscillators. The impact of this was that Rakon's core crystal business was in rapid decline, with the total market size shrinking to a mere 10% of its previous size.īrent Robinson immediately started looking for new related technologies that Rakon could adopt to turn around the rapidly falling sales. This meant that rather than a radio requiring a pair of crystals for every frequency (one for transmit and a second for receive), only one single crystal was required. Brent was made responsible for the crystal manufacturing business, while Warren focused on his other expanding business, Rakon Computers, which at the time owned the distribution rights for Unix in Australia and New Zealand.Īround this time, a new technology began being widely adopted in radio designs, frequency synthesis. In 1972 Warren Robinson set up a second manufacturing plant in Singapore to supply the growing markets of Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Taiwan.Īround 1980, Warren Robinson's eldest son, Brent Robinson, joined Rakon as Managing Director. By 1971, Rakon had moved into its own premises and employed over 30 staff it had also begun exporting the crystals to Australia and South East Asia. Initially, the New Zealand government blocked Robinson's application to import crystal manufacturing equipment as they didn't wish there to be undue competition to the post office, however by 1967 Robinson was able to secure an import license for the equipment and started manufacturing quartz crystals, in his garage, to supply the local radio market.īy supplying quality crystals on short lead-times, Rakon grew quickly, riding the wave of growth in the radio-communications industry. Warren Robinson realising there was an opportunity to compete with the NZPO sold Marlin Electronics to Autocrat Radio and went on to found Rakon Industries (RIL) a few years later (1967). The only source for these crystals was the NZPO ( New Zealand Post Office), and delivery times were often measured in months, which was an ongoing problem for Robinson in his ability to supply his radios. These marine radios required between 6-12 quartz crystals with each region within New Zealand requiring a different set of frequencies. Robinson had previously operated a business manufacturing marine radios, Marlin Electronics. Rakon was founded on 4 April 1967 by Warren Robinson. Battle chess 4000 download7/11/2023 Expert chess players, however, are likely to find the lack of a high level AI disappointing. In that aspect, it succeeds admirably, combining a good range of difficulties with entertaining graphics. Still, Battle Chess is meant to be an introduction for gamers who wouldn't normally give European chess a second thought. It's not as effective a learning tool as you might think, though, because you're not privy to the AI's long term plans and may not see its intentions. In that case, the AI will make the best move for you according to its calculations. Novice players can learn from the AI by switching sides and bumping the difficulty level up significantly during a game. At that point, the AI is quite adept and does think a good number of moves ahead, but it's not up to the challenge of taking on expert human chess players. However, each difficulty level is noticeably more skilled than the last, until you get to the final level. The AI doesn't plan ahead in the easiest mode, so even first time players can beat the computer with a bit of forethought and some applied baiting strategy. In addition to the three main effects, you also hear some minor effects during certain piece match-ups that are fairly well done but not particularly impressive.īattle Chess offers ten levels of difficulty. Only rooks have their own distinctive rocky sound. Armored units, like pawns and knights, move with the sound of rattling plate armor, while unarmored units move with a rustling of cloth. The three main sound effects are much less remarkable with each corresponding to one or more pieces. Even if you don't have the slightest bit of interest in chess, you'll find yourself setting up several games just to see the pairing animations. The piece versus piece animations are even more interesting as you'll see them killing each other with a variety of comical or bizarre methods. The rook has a particularly good animation - it breaks from a stone tower shape into a monstrous humanoid form, lumbers to its destination, and settles back into its tower form. The military pieces, like knights and pawns, march sternly while the more courtly pieces, queens and bishops, have a light glide to their movement. Although the animations tend to be a little stilted with noticeable movement gaps between frames, the substance of the animations makes up for that. The character portraits have an impressive amount of detail, including little things like wrinkles in clothing and facial expressions. By using skillfully drawn-in blemishes to mimic veins, the game manages to create a fairly decent representation of a marble chessboard. The game's 3D mode graphics are quite lavish. Conservative chess players may choke at this offbeat approach, but it turns out to be quite entertaining for beginners and quite challenging for intermediates.

Flower- We recommend pressing your flower into a small puck with your finger or pre-press and only press it one time. Each terpene melts at a different temperature and will be pushed out one at a time outside the plates, this allows for the highest-quality rosin and maximum yield with only one press!įollowing are some of the essential pointers we would like to share with our customers regarding the functioning of this unit: Once pressure is locked in and the unit is powered on, the plates will quickly heat from room temperature to 250 degrees. In combination with the Ju1ceBox Handheld’s unique sloped design and heating process, this makes temperature control unnecessary. This causes the rosin and wide variety of terpenes to exit the plates to a cool, safe zone immediately. The size of the Ju1ceBox Handheld rosin press plates requires significantly less pressure, making it easy to press by hand while guaranteeing that 80% or more of the surface area is used in each press. Generally, only a fraction of the surface area is used, resulting in the rosin being trapped between the hot plates after leaving the starting material. Many rosin presses have large plates that increase the total surface area and then require extreme pressures for success. While the gradual heating process guarantees maximum achievable yields without a 2nd or 3rd press needed. The unique sloped design prevents burning terpenes and directs the flow of the rosin for a quicker collection process. The size is kept compact, making it more suitable than it's competitors for rosin production at home or on the go. It's much longer than A Cloud Guru one (over FOURTY hours of videos) and I highly recommend watching the videos at 1.5x speed, especially if this is not your first rodeo with AWS. In order to learn more, I went through AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Level course on Linux Academy. My very first practice exam was an embarrassment, I clearly needed to learn more: "The fuck is a Kinesis, is that a vegetable?" Unfortunately (at least in my case) going through the videos is not enough. It's around 12 hours of content, the videos are really well made and Ryan is a fantastic teacher.Īfter finishing the course, I thought that I was ready for the exam. When it comes to passing the actual exam, I've started with an excellent AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate 2019 course on A Cloud Guru. In general, the more actual, practical experience you have with AWS, the better. Our project at work is based on serverless stack (including, but not limited to: DynamoDB, serverless framework, Lambda, S3, SQS, CloudFormation) so I had a bit of a headstart. Which is not exactly saying: "you've been doing Backbone.js for 2 years, it'll be a cakewalk for you". The AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate examination is intended for individuals who perform a solutions architect role and have one or more years of hands-on experience designing available, cost-efficient, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems on AWS. (I'm still not, but that was even more true couple of months ago).Īccording to AWS website, this exam is meant for: Which means that I was not an expert on networking, databases, security etc. Our company at the time, OLX Group was using AWS quite heavily and since the company was betting on AWS, its engineers should bet on it as well.Ī bit of background: I'm a JavaScript/React developer with 7 years of frontend experience. So you want to be a Solutions Architect, huh?Ī while ago I was given a goal to pass the AWS Solutions Architect Associate exam on my first attempt. Disclaimer: this post is based on my personal experiences, I'm not saying this is the best way possible, but it worked for me and I think it might work for you too.

Black manta dc7/10/2023 Done right, it could have been the most well-defined horror movie in the genre-blending landscape of superhero movies. The sequence's breathtaking visuals and eerie sound design prove why The Trench could have worked as a horror movie. Both heroes had to immerse themselves in the darkness of the sea and not only fend off the monsters but also dive headfirst into their home. Aquaman and Mera's dive into the Trench in Aquaman was a small taste of James Wan's horror roots. Now, The Trench seems like a missed opportunity. Wan didn't go into further details, but the alliance between David Kane and the Trench made sense, mainly because it would have given the creatures of the Trench a clear leader and would have developed Aquaman's archenemy in a standalone movie before their rematch in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. However, while looking back on the work behind Black Manta's suit for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, director James Wan revealed on Instagram that The Trench was secretly a Black Manta movie. decided to focus on more recognizable characters instead. The Trench was canceled in April 2021, and the approaching releases of movies like The Batman and Black Adam suggested that Warner Bros. Related: A quaman 2 Trailer Hints Orm Fights Black Manta With Arthur Although the concept was interesting, there were doubts about how a movie based on these mindless creatures could work without characters like Aquaman, Mera, or Ocean Master. Aquaman visited this location when Arthur Curry and Mera dove through its portal to retrieve Atlan's trident and rescue Queen Atlanna. announced a horror-inspired spinoff film centered around the monstrous creatures that inhabit "The Trench," the kingdom that was not annexed by the rest of the Atlantean territories and instead devolved into a dark pit infested with grotesque monsters. In February 2019, just two months after the release of Aquaman, Warner Bros. What only now comes as a surprise is the fact that the latter two were originally planned to have their own movie somewhere between the events of Aquaman and its upcoming sequel.

Contour lines in art with a apple7/10/2023 In a contour drawing your finger/pencil would have to leave one apple (lift from the paper) to get to the other apple. Your pencil moves, not on the edge of a shadow, but on the edge of the actual form.” He shows two apples and explains that an outline including both apples is a visual illusion. When you touch the figure, it will feel the same to your hand whether the part you touch happens at the moment to be light or in shadow. a contour study is not a thing that can be ‘finished.’ It is having a particular type of experience, which can continues as long as you have the patience to look.”ģ – Contour = Outline “Do not be misled by shadows. Idrive vs pedal commander7/10/2023 When comparing the top brands here in Australia keep in mind the following features to help you choose the best controller for your vehicle. There are many great throttle controllers available and choosing between them can be confusing. Throttle Controller Comparison Table Throttle ControllerĮco, Sport, Cruise, High Performance, Auto and Normal They are designed for specific vehicles so make sure you choose the correct model for your car before installing.Īs with all the models listed in this review, the SAAS S-Drive also comes with a lifetime warranty. This unit is suitable for use with all types of transmissions, manual and automatic, and petrol and diesel engines. It also has a light sensor that adjusts the backlight automatically ensuring it isn’t too bright at night or too dim in the middle of the day. The control panel is 53 x 53 x 8mm so is compact and easy to position. This means it offers a total of 36 adjustment levels, the same as the HikeIt x9. Each setting offers 9 adjustment options (aside from the normal which simply reverts back to factory settings). There are 5 modes available Comfort, Sports, Racing, Normal and Eco Fuel Saving. This device is easy to install and requires no wiring as it is all set up for you. The final throttle control we looked at is the SAAS S-Drive. This one costs slightly less than the Ultimate 9 making it excellent value for money. This system uses a dual 32bit chipset, a more advanced version of the standard 16bit that is often used in throttle controllers. It has an anti-theft mode that won’t let the car accelerate until it is unlocked and the control panel has a sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness to suit the ambient light. The HikeIt X9 offers a few useful features that are unique to HikeIt. You can also choose the face plate colour of the control unit (white is standard or select between black, red or blue for $5 extra). In addition to all of these settings, you can press and hold the mode button to turn on overtake mode. The automatic mode is impressively smooth, this is thanks to a combination of intelligent software and lots of adjustment settings to move between. Eco, Sport, Cruise and High Performance each offer 9 adjustment levels, while Auto can access all of these levels and will select based on your driving behaviour and situation and Normal will return the car to factory settings. This controller offers 6 different modes Eco, Sport, Cruise, HikeIt High Performance, Auto and Normal. The Hikeit X9 is one of the newest throttle controller models on the market and it is packed with fantastic features. It also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee and a lifetime replacement warranty. The Ultimate 9 doesn’t offer quite as many settings as the other units listed but we love how easy it is to use, control and install. If you want a controller that offers automatic control then look at the Ultimate 9 and the HikeIt X9 as these are the only ones listed that offer this feature. The mode and sensitivity can be set using the control panel and the display shows you a letter and number that indicates the chosen mode (U = Ultimate, E = Economy, AC = Automatic Control and - = Normal) and throttle response setting. This EVC throttle controller offers four driving modes and 20 adjustable settings so you can tune it to find the ideal response for the terrain and situation you are in. However, one of the downsides of the Ultimate 9 is that the display brightness cannot be adjusted but this shouldn’t be too much of an issue with careful positioning. The control unit is extremely compact so you will be able to fit it anywhere on your dash without it getting in the way. It is an incredibly user-friendly unit that is 100% plug and play so all you need to do is connect it to your throttle cables and then position the control unit on your dash. The Ultimate 9 EVC throttle Controller is one of the most popular options in Australia. |
